A Castello Canevaro Wedding on the Italian Riviera

Stephanie & Dan · San Giorgio Church · Zoagli Stephanie and Dan travelled from London for a wedding shaped by two very different sides of the Italian Riviera: a ceremony at San Giorgio Church above Portofino harbour, followed by a seaside reception at Castello Canevaro in nearby Zoagli. The story moved from wind and confetti outside the church to portraits through Portofino, speeches beside the sea, photographs on the rocks and an evening of dancing inside the castle. The wind became part of the day. It lifted Stephanie’s veil above the church, moved through the harbour portraits and brought energy to the photographs beside the Ligurian Sea.

01

San Giorgio Church above the harbour

The morning opened with the sea, the Portofino waterfront and San Giorgio Church on the promontory. Dan waited outside while musicians played and guests gathered on the patterned stone forecourt.

Stephanie arrived with her father as the wind caught her veil. The church is small and intimate, so the photography stayed quiet and observational as the flower girls entered and the ceremony began.

02

A small church filled with family and movement

Inside San Giorgio, the marble floor, yellow drapery and flowers gave the ceremony a strong visual identity. The most important photographs came from reactions: Stephanie and Dan looking at one another, children shifting in their seats and family members following each part of the service.

Outside, the confetti exit was fast and wonderfully uncontrolled. The wind pulled the veil through the frame while the couple and flower girls came down the church steps.

03

From the church steps to the harbour

After the ceremony, Stephanie and Dan walked through Portofino rather than turning the afternoon into a separate production. The harbour, boats, painted facades and narrow streets remained visible around them.

A few portraits were gently directed, but the stronger sequence came from movement: Dan carrying Stephanie, the veil catching the wind and the couple making their way through the waterfront.

04

Speeches and a reception beside the sea

The celebration continued at Castello Canevaro in Zoagli. The historic residence sits on a promontory in the Gulf of Tigullio, surrounded by the sea on three sides, which gave the reception a very different atmosphere from Portofino harbour.

The speeches were photographed closely and without interruption. Current official venue information describes one event per day, sea-view gardens and historic Garrison rooms; capacities and operating details should always be confirmed directly with the venue.

05

Portraits on the rocks and cake above the water

The weather remained dramatic, with pale light, turquoise water and waves breaking below the castle. Stephanie and Dan stepped onto the coastal paths for a short portrait sequence while the celebration continued nearby.

Back in the gardens, guests gathered for cake and champagne overlooking the Gulf of Tigullio. Children moved in and out of the frame, keeping the photographs lively and connected to the real atmosphere.

06

Dancing inside Castello Canevaro

The final part of the gallery becomes looser and more energetic. Guests filled the checkerboard-floored rooms, Dan carried Stephanie across the dance floor and the flower girls joined the party.

The photographs close the story in the same way it unfolded: with people, movement and humour rather than a staged final scene.
