The Swan Shakespeare’s Globe micro wedding
Welcome to Jenny and Chris’s real-life The Swan Shakespeare’s Globe wedding in London! Jenny is from the States, and Chris is British – both of them living in the US currently, so I’m happy they came over here for their wedding. They made it small, and compact, so Shakespeare’s Globe was their perfect wedding venue for this. Read the full post and find out more about Shakespeare’s Globe if you’re looking for an elegant venue for your London wedding. Additionally, I’m sharing here some picturesque locations ideas for wedding photos nearby.
The Shakespeare’s Globe Wedding venue
The wedding was celebrated at the famous Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. This historic venue, which has undergone a massive restoration, was the perfect location for this magical event. It was a beautiful early autumn day in London.
What is the capacity of the Swan at Shakespeare’s Globe?
The Shakespeare’s Globe offers a range of beautiful spaces for your London wedding. There is an Underglobe for bigger weddings. It is located beneath the Globe Theatre with a dedicated Bankside entrance. The Underglobe can seat up to 350 people for a meal, and 450 for a standing reception. But keep in mind that the only time it is available is during the evenings.
Since Jenny and Chris wanted a smaller more intimate wedding and the room filled with daylight they went for ar wedding in The Balcony Room.
The Balcony Room is a high-end and versatile events space with wooden floors, open French windows, and stunning views of the River Thames. It’s available for rent in London.
The room was first set up for a wedding reception, but after the chairs were arranged around tables to make it look more like a seated dinner reception.
Up to 40 guests can be seated at a dining table. Up to 120 people can stand in front of the reception venue if they are just being used for ceremony purposes. And up to 70 guests can sit in theatre-style seating within the space when it is used as a wedding venue.
How much does it cost to hire the Swan at Shakespeare’s Globe wedding?
For the Balcony Room, the minimum spend ranges between 1500 and 2500 GBP, depending on what time of day the event takes place. You can book this venue here: https://swanlondon.co.uk
The Wedding photoshoot in London near the Shakespeare’s Globe
We didn’t have much time after the ceremony, so we went for a photoshoot on the Millennium Bridge, which overlooks St. Paul’s Cathedral. The sky was full of dramatic autumn clouds, which looked perfect in the wedding photos I took.
But if you have more time for a photo shoot, I can suggest you the following places nearby:
- Borough Market,
- Southwark Bridge,
- London Bridge,
- The Shard.
We also went for a late-night photoshoot near the Theatre. Love the photoshoot we did later in the night – it rained a bit, we had a little drizzle, so the embankment was much quieter than usual at this time. This gave me a great opportunity as a wedding photographer – to capture some portraits in the empty night streets. Add some shine from the wet cobbled stones and I’m a happy wedding photographer.
The wedding day was wonderful, as were the days before and after.
I loved working with this couple and I’m so happy I could be part of their wedding day.
