Lavender, woodland and a quieter side of England

Athena and Lee’s session moves from open lavender to woodland in Southern England. The exact location is kept private. The changing landscape gives the photographs their variety without relying on a route through well-known London landmarks.

Athena and Lee did not need a complicated route. The strongest pictures came from giving the setting enough time and letting the session feel like a day together rather than a sequence of landmarks.

For a countryside pre-wedding shoot, first decide whether flowers, woodland or open views matter most to you. Flowering conditions vary, so a date should not be chosen on the assumption that a field will look exactly as it does in a previous gallery. Check access with the landowner and have a second setting that does not depend on a particular bloom.

Allow time for walking between photographs and take comfortable shoes, even if you plan to wear something different for portraits. Keep outfit changes practical, and leave room in the schedule for a break. A relaxed outdoor session works best when the route suits the people taking part.
