A wedding on the island of Salina
This wedding took place at Capofaro Locanda & Malvasia on Salina, one of Sicily’s Aeolian Islands. The setting combines rugged coastline, vineyards, volcanic landscape and open views across the Mediterranean.
Atom Events from London planned the celebration. The day felt deliberately relaxed: informal dress, an outdoor ceremony, dinner outside and a reception that used the landscape rather than trying to compete with it.

A vineyard wedding setting on Salina
Capofaro gave the wedding several layers without moving everyone between multiple venues. The vineyards and gardens worked for the quieter parts of the day, while the wider island and sea views gave the photographs a clear sense of place.
That is particularly useful on an island wedding. The location can be present in the photographs without turning the wedding into a long sightseeing session.

Rosemary, herbs and a deliberately relaxed dress code
The bride chose a short lace jumpsuit instead of a traditional full-length gown, and the guests followed the same relaxed spirit. It suited the island and the natural setting much better than forcing a very formal look onto the day.
The ceremony itself was decorated with pots of herbs, including rosemary, tying the setting back to the gardens around the venue. It was simple, distinctive and completely at home in Salina.

Vineyards, volcano and Mediterranean light
The landscape is a large part of why this wedding is so memorable. Salina never disappears into the background: the vineyards, cliffs, sea and volcanic forms keep returning throughout the photographs.
I prefer that to taking the couple away for a long formal portrait session. The strongest sense of place comes from letting the island appear naturally through the wedding itself.

Colour, Sicilian food and dancing outside
The reception moved into a more playful mood. Colourful balloons appeared around the tables, guests ate outdoors and the celebration continued as the light changed over the Mediterranean.
This is where the photographs become less about the venue and more about the people: dinner, laughter, movement and dancing, with Salina still present around the edges of the frame.
