The Gherkin wedding in London
This must be one my favourite views of London. Being a wedding photographer in London becomes very rewarding once you’re up there in the top of the Gherkin with a couple, guests shooting a wedding party. This was the case with Marie and James who had their Gherkin wedding on a sunny afternoon in December. The light up there was magical, it really felt like summer with the warm glow. Whenever I had a break I just stuck myself to the glass and stared around.
The day started in Andaz Hotel with bride and her family getting ready. Love that shot when the bride is ready and I caught her looking down from the balcony. Once outside you could feel the rush of the Liverpool street station. And 5 minutes later we where up in the Gherkin in total peace and tranquility, isolated from the world below. Yes, that’s how it feels up there – it’s isolation. It’s easy to be focussed in the Gherkin.
